I appreciated the opportunity to develop targeted digital outreach strategies that highlighted the importance of culturally relevant mental health support for BIPOC communities. Janelle provided clear direction and were receptive to creative input, which allowed me to design engaging content that resonated with the audience. Overall, this experience enhanced my skills in digital strategy, content creation, and audience engagement while contributing to a meaningful cause.

As a group, we were inspired by the work Inner Compass Well-being was doing in bringing mental healthcare closer to BIPOC communities. We were proud to see a member of the black community contributing actively to the mental health of our community. Janelle was significantly instrumental in the success of our project with her guidance and feedback.

Working with Inner Compass Well-being through the Advance Ontario: January 2025 Cohort was a deeply meaningful experience. Their approach to mental health support for BIPOC communities goes beyond awareness—it prioritizes real action, accessibility, and culturally relevant care.
The initiative provided practical tools and strategies that directly address the unique barriers BIPOC individuals face in mental health care, such as stigma and a lack of culturally competent resources. The focus on community-based healing, intergenerational resilience, and culturally specific coping mechanisms made the work incredibly impactful. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, Inner Compass Well-being ensures that mental health support is tailored to the lived experiences of the communities they serve.
I highly recommend Inner Compass Well-being for their commitment to equity-driven, transformative mental health initiatives. Their work is a crucial step in ensuring BIPOC communities receive the holistic and sustainable support they deserve.

I would definitely recommend students take advantage of the opportunity to work with Janelle Efejedia. She is incredibly supportive and the project she had offered great learning experience. Transitioning from educational projects to work related ones can be overwhelming but Janelle broke down the project into manageable chunks, gave constructive feedback, and was there to guide me through some of project hiccups.

The initial project support was effective. However, in Week 4, the support was insufficient, resulting in an incomplete project. This issue can be addressed by providing continuous support to learners and students.
