Details

In Canada, there are a growing number of languages that are spoken in homes and in communities. While the Census 2021 data is not yet available with updated information, the 2016 Census has provided indications of growth in several key languages including: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Russian, even though these may not be at the same pace. SEE: https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2016/as-sa/98-200-x/2016010/98-200-x2016010-eng.cfm

As an organization dedicated to advancing the rights and wellbeing of all Canadians as we age, we would also like to be as diverse and inclusive as possible. In addition to full translation in French, CanAge would appreciate the opportunity to work with translation students to also make its resources available in these other languages. Students may also have future opportunities to provide ongoing future translation of materials and website content.

Deliverables

- Translation of core/fundamental areas of the website www.canage.ca

- Translation of the new release of CanAge's policy book VOICES, due to be released October 1, 2022

- Special attention to terminology as it relates to financial security, optimized healthcare and policy/legal reform.

Mentorship

We are only too happy to provide:

  • A briefing document along with a facilitated overview of the important themes and needs for the project
  • Any key messages, target audiences and available creative assets to help them understand the brand
  • A single point of contact (POC) assigned to your course and students, with a team of experts available for questions
  • Access to Slack, Google Workspace, and some other project management tools. We welcome the students so they can feel as though they are part of the team, or at arm's length - whatever is best.
  • *For those running courses outside of Canada*, we'll provide guidance and direction for the students to better understand the Canadian business (and geographical) landscape, along with openly available sources of data that could be useful in making their assessments.
  • Recognition of the school's involvement and the students' work in a media release (if permitted) and attribution of the students' contributions via LinkedIn or references as required.
